Beginner Computer Course

Are you the instructor we need?

  • Problem: As satellite internet becomes a fixture in remote village life, many desire to sign up for educational opportunities available online. As new users of both computer and cell phone technology, the indigenous start several steps behind most of their classmates. Many have asked us for computer training courses. At the same time, church leaders desire to help families and guide them away from the pitfalls of the internet as they explore education and personal development online.

  • Activity: Host basic computer course designed around low budget, indigenous users in remote areas with an emphasis on responsible use of the internet.

  • Relevance: If students choose to relocate to cities for education and connectivity, social and cultural upheaval and divided families negatively impact the social structure. This gives these isolated villages with satellite access the ability to study from the village without the expense and social upheaval of moving to the city to study.

  • Impact: It empowers them to choose to remain in the village context for higher education and training while continuing to be part of child rearing and village life.

  • Cost: $4000
